| O leiteiro é uma planta daninha que ocorre em pastagens, de importância crescente no Brasil e que reproduz-se por sementes. Com o objetivo de conhecer o comportamento germinativo dessa espécie, as sementes foram colocadas para germinar sobre papel, em temperaturas constantes de 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 e 40ºC, sem ou com luz (78 µmol s-1m-2/8h). Para a avaliação dos tratamentos, foram contabilizadas, semanalmente, o número de sementes germinadas (G), considerando-se a protrusão de 1cm de raiz primária, até que cessasse a germinação em todos os tratamentos (63 dias após a semeadura) e, determinou-se o índice de velocidade de germinação (IVG). | Foram avaliados os efeitos da cobertura do solo com 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 e 15 t/ha de palha de cana-de-açúcar da variedade RB 82 5336 sobre a emergência em campo de plântulas de Sida rhombifolia, Euphorbia heterophylla, Bidens pilosa e Ipomoea grandifolia, introduzidas na área mediante semeadura de 500 sementes viáveis por espécie. Utilizou-se o delineamento em blocos ao acaso com quatro repetições e as unidades experimentais apresentaram dimensões de 2x3 m. | ABSTRACT The rules for seed analysis do not have recommendations for conducting the germination test of Eucalyptus phaeotricha seeds. Para tanto, sementes foram submetidas a tratamentos de imersão em H2SO4 (98%, 36N) por 5 minutos, de umedecimento do substrato de germinação com KNO3 (0,2%) e a tratamentos térmicos de 40, 55, 70 e 85OC por períodos de exposição de 5, 10 e 15h, em estufa com circulação forçada de ar. | Seeds of jussara palm (Euterpe edulis Mart.) are recalcitrant, presenting low longevity, high sensitivity to dehydration and to low temperatures of storage. Temperature conditions for temporary preservation of those seeds, with and without pulp, were studied. Mature fruits were harvested from 24 plants belonging to the palm collection of the Instituto Agronômico (IAC) located at Ubatuba, São Paulo State, Brazil, and taken in moisture-proof containers to the Universidade Estadual de São Paulo, in Botucatu, São Paulo State.
